Graduating Dancing Ball

Every winter the classes who will graduate in spring have a dancing ball. The ball is for parents, teachers and all the friends in the hotel Merkur in Česká Lípa.

At the beginning, there is usually a short film about the class. Then some professional dancers dance- they show some nice styles. Sometimes the students dance themselves like this year.

After that, there is a students´promenade and they are introduced to the public. Their friends and parents throw coins on the walking student who comes to the class teacher and the headteacher. They give the student a ribbon across the chest with the sign GRADUATION 2001-2009, a flower and a glass with champagne. Then all the students gether on the steps to the stage and they are photographed by parents and professional photographers.

Then there is a solo for teachers and the students. And the ball is open. During the first part of the ball, people can buy tickets to the draw and they can win something. The ball usually finishes at 3 am.

It is so popular that also former students come to see their teachers. There are usually about 300 people.

Meeting with a guest

On 19th January our eTwinning group invited a guest - Fr Antoni Mysliwiec SDS. He had been working in the Czech Republic for 15 years in such places like: Bílá Voda, Jeseník and Kralice na Hané. Our guest told us interesting facts about Chech history and language. We could learn more about such persons like: Dobrava, St Cyril and Methodius or Komensky. Answering our questions he also told us about some funny situations, especially those when he was beginning to learn the Chech language. At the end of the meeting we could learn some basic Czech words and prases. So - na shledanou:-)
